Βενθική Οικολογία, ∆οµή και Λειτουργία Παράκτιων και Μεταβατικών Οικοσυστηµάτων, Βιοποικιλότητα, Ανάπτυξη ∆εικτών για την εκτίµηση των ανθρωπογενών επιπτώσεων στα µεταβατικά οικοσυστήµατα , Ποιοτικός έλεγχος και παρακολούθηση των παράκτιων και µεταβατικών οικοσυστηµάτων, Προστασία και ∆ιαχείριση Παράκτιας Ζώνης, Βιοσυσσώρευση των Τοξινών ∆ιαρροϊκού συνδρόµου (DSP) σε βενθικούς οργανισµούς.

Συμμετοχή σε ερευνητικά προγράμματα:

Συµµετοχή σε 45 Εθνικά και ∆ιεθνή Προγράµµατα εκ των οποίων στα περισσότερα είτε ως Επιστηµονικός Υπεύθυνος, είτε ως Υπεύθυνος ‘Εργου.

Συµµετοχή στην οµάδα εργασίας της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής για την εφαρµογή της Οδηγίας Πλαίσιο για τα Ύδατα (Common Implementation Strategy for the Water Framework Directive. European Commission. 2004-2006-.“Intercalibration”. WFD, 2000/60 EC) ως εθνικός εκπρόσωπος (contact person), για την άσκηση ∆ιαβαθµονόµισης Intercalibration process-WFD στα µεταβατικά νερά. Ειδικός εµπειρογνώµων για θέµατα µακροζωοβένθους-δεικτών.
